Import Magento Products to Shopify
Magento 2 (Adobe Commerce) exports products with one row per SKU and configurable products linked by a configurable_variations column. Rebuild those links as Shopify variants and the rest maps cleanly.
1. Export your products from Magento
- In Magento admin, go to System → Data Transfer → Export.
- Set Entity Type to Products and the file format to CSV.
- Click Continue. Magento generates the file in the background. Download it from the export grid.
2. Map Magento columns to Shopify
Shopify's importer only reads its own column names. Copy each Magento column into the matching column of the Shopify product CSV template.

3. Import the file into Shopify
- Remove simple products that are only children of configurable products. They become variant rows instead.
- Turn each configurable product into one Shopify product with a row per child SKU.
- Prefix image paths with your media URL so Shopify can download them.
- Check the file, then import it under Products → Import.
- Add 301 redirects from each Magento URL (often ending in .html) to /products/{handle}.
4. Common Magento migration problems
- Image columns hold paths relative to your media folder, such as /m/u/mug.jpg. Add your store's media URL in front.
- Child simple products in Magento must not be imported as separate Shopify products.
- Magento attributes beyond three variant options need to become tags or metafields.
